SAN DIEGO, CA (September 10, 2010) The Colony Studio/Gallery is a community gallery and artist collective that will provide artists with, both studio and gallery space to create and showcase their particular media to the public. As Colony tenants or members, artists will have access to the ColonyStudioGallery for monthly shows, marketing, PR, website, permanent window installations and classrooms for the holding of community classes.

As a complex for artists by artists, the Colony supports the free reign of the artistic process, while fostering marketing, sales and outreach for the art produced. The Colony is conveniently located in a loft-like industrial suite in Sorrento Valley and accessible from the 5, 805 and Coaster. The Colony is always recruiting talented artists to participate in Gallery shows, rent studios or shooting space. (In fact, we are already seeking to expand to an adjacent loft space behind us.)

The studios range in size from 100 to 600 sq. ft. and range in price from $250 to $1000. Colony complex amenities include kitchenette, Hi Speed Internet, make-up table, reception area, shower and men’s and women’s restrooms. Open space includes 1000 SF Main Gallery and shooting space with a 18 x 36 cyc wall (white). This space is located on the ground floor with roll-up door and 24hr access.

We are always receiving applications for artists to reside in the studio, show their work in the gallery or teach in our classroom, all of whom, as studio members, will enjoy total creative control of their shows or their classes. Classes from multiple perspectives not only enrich the community, but serve as a vehicle for exposure of Colony artists to the greater public.
